Total organic carbon (TOC) is the amount of carbon bound in an organic compound and is often used as an indicator of water quality or cleanliness of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment. The TOC analyser champions other techniques in the following ways:

The TOC-LCSH adopts the 680°C combustion catalytic oxidation method, which was the pioneering work of Shimadzu and is now used worldwide. In addition, the combustion catalytic oxidation method can efficiently oxidise hard-to-decompose insoluble and macromolecular organic compounds, improving result accuracy.
