Commercially introduced in 1983, the Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) technology has been recognised for its excellent detection capabilities, especially for rare-earth elements (REEs). ICP-MS has many advantages over other elemental analysis techniques like atomic absorption and optical emission spectrometry, including:
- Superior detection limits
- Higher throughput
- Minimal matrix interferences
- Higher sensitivity
- Ability to obtain isotopic information
Agilent 7700x ICP-MS
The Agilent 7700x ICP-MS is designed for routine analysis of high-matrix samples. The 7700x provides the most robust plasma of any commercial ICP-MS, optimising matrix tolerance to allow measurement of % levels of matrix. The 7700x also includes Agilent’s 3rd generation Octopole Reaction System (ORS3) cell for effective removal of interferences in complex and variable samples.
